The Art Of Being Alone: Finding Comfort In Your Own Company
I’m actually starting to enjoy being alone; which years ago would have been considered a startling development for me.
But it's important, especially for understanding who you are.
These days, we are literally never alone. Even if there is physically no one around you, you probably have at least two forms of technology in your immediate vicinity that can connect you to the outside world.
We’ve become dependent on our ability to talk to anyone at any time. But by avoiding loneliness, we’re preventing ourselves from being confident on our own.
It’s really hard to find your own voice when you can hear anyone else’s at any given moment.
There’s something to be said for dropping off the grid for a little bit, even if it’s just for an hour or two.
Listen to your own mind, or don’t listen to anything at all.
Find peace in the silence.
You’re forced to like yourself, or at least figure out why you don’t.
